The Unique Art Manufacturing Company made the tin wind-up "Li'l Abner and his Dogpatch Band" in 1945. When wound up, all of the characters from the popular comic strip begin playing or dancing.

The tin wind-up toy on the left below is the "Ham and Sam The Minstrel Team" featuring Ham and Sam on the banjo and piano. When you wind up this  toy, made by toy maker Ferdinand Strauss,  both figures move around as if playing their respective instruments. The mechanics are similar to the "Li'l Abner Dogpatch Band" seen above.
