Jack
continues to collect vintage toys relating to show business and the toy on the
left is a newer addition.
Quite fascinating is this 1960's battery operated Japanese-made
(T-N Company) Pinocchio.
He flawlessly plays "London
Bridge" on the tin xylophone!
"Fido the Xylophone
Player" on the right doesn't play a specific song, but taps out an
upbeat tune.
Also new to Jack Swersie's collection is the well-preserved Occupied Japan wind-up "Xylophone Player" pictured below. The base to this rare and desirable 1940's toy and the xylophone itself are tin and the character playing the instrument is celluloid. Because of the very fragile nature of celluloid, it's quite difficult to find this toy in excellent condition like the one seen here.
