Yes, it's true!
Long before Jack thought about doing stand-up comedy he was involved with the
drama department at Georgia State University. The Atlanta Police Department and
the city's SWAT Team requested the talents of two young actors to participate in
a mock hostage negotiation exercise.
Jack was the first to volunteer.
All the bank employees were told to respond to the robbers as they would if the robbery situation was real. Armed with a sawed off shotgun, Jack entered the bank with his partner-in-crime and the chaos began. Here we see Jack holding the security guard hostage while yelling demands to the negotiators outside. An Atlanta Constitution newspaper photographer captured this nasty situation for the next day's front page. A local television station captured Jack's demands for the evening news.
Ultimately Jack
was shot and killed by a SWAT team officer after he was tricked by a bank teller into
taking her to the ladies room downstairs. It turned out that the downstairs of
the bank building had an outside entrance. Armed officers were positioned there and
Jack was shot
five times as the elevator door opened.
To this day, Jack has not robbed another bank!
